Some food for thoughts...

... it took me years to understand that :)

I've tried another design, although I prefer my other typographic posters. Maybe I'll find a better way to do it.

Haha, thanks for the link, I didn't new this poster. Well, the big letters + sunset + silhouettes + a tree is quite classic ;)

It's a beautiful sentiment but I think the grammar is incorrect 6-6' It should be "Rather than expecting things from them" (sorry if someone has already pointed this out)

Um... 6_6' maybe. But I'm pretty sure that using the term "rather than" to express preference requires using an -ing verb in the second clause... It's like using the term "instead of" i.e. "Thank your friends for what they give you 'instead of' expectING things from them." It also depends on tense and word order. You could say "I WOULD RATHER thank my friends for what they give THAN EXPECT things from them." That would be more grammatically correct. Sorry for the bad explanation >_<

It's funny, I've been having the time of my life this year with my new friends in university, all of whom are really fun although very different people. Yet I ended up having more conflicts than previously. It seems that the better you get along with people there is a natural tendency to subconciously demand from them. I think that although what you're saying is apt but sometimes that knowledge can be deflating (especially the latter part) if you understand what I mean.

This is something I want to see framed and hanging on my wall...
That's not the question of trade, but the appreciation. This is a really strong and truthful message...

Because they are quite expensive on DA, don't you think? This would look cool as a poster, but DA only offers fine-art prints in large formats (I think)

Well, I don't know a lot about DeviantArt prints, i just know that would look nice on a wall and DeviantArt is momentarily the place that could be realized.
