During this session, we've tried to play with interpretation of the memories rather than doing something too literal.

----- memory #44 ------

I was a child, I had 7-8 years. One night I wake up from a nightmare. At this point, I realize that I am no longer in my bed, but I don’t know where I am. I understand that there is a wall behind me, a table on me and I can’t leave this place because I’m trapped behind "bars". I feel a deep panic. I start screaming. Finally, the light of my room is switched on. Mommy comes to save me. She screams “where are you?” Because she can’ts ee me. I was finally stuck under the desk in my room... How did I get here?

REMEMORIES : Project description.

“I would like you to remember an important personal event, something that still seems important to you today. Actors will then reinterpret your memories.”

From May to August 2012, several anonymous contributors answered my request (through a webpage that described the project), giving me lots of short texts to work on.


Nostalgia, happiness or traumas formed the main components of these numerous memories, from which actors and dancers experimented to create something new, without trying to be literal but keeping the emotions and ideas of the texts. I didn’t wanted to simply reenact the memories (the original texts would have been sufficient for that) but to go beyond them and create singular photos with some freedom, for both actors and me. That is why most of my usual themes are apparent: ambiguity, mysterious symbols and a non-naturalistic approach to the link between bodies and their environment – all of which being freely interpreted by the viewers.

Places are also linked to this idea of “memories”: second-hand bookstore, vintage furniture shop, museum... all these interesting spaces add originality, preventing the actors from simply recreating the description of these recollections.

Finally, when submitting a message, all participants have accepted to let me publish their original text next to the photos. I’ve simply numbered them in chronological order, publishing them in their original language.

REMEMORIES is an on-going project that should be completed by October 2012.

I love all the REMEMORIES ! :love:
But may I ask, what is the name of the font you use in the text ?
Because I've been looking for it pretty long, I love it :D Just haven't found it :noes:

Thank you! :highfive: I'm planning to complete REMEMORIES during this summertime.

This is not a font, I've drawn each character based on the classic Gotham font that I bought.That's why I have 3 alternate versions for the E and two for the S.

However, I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for in Ten Dollars Fonts [link] Look for Fonecian. Mind you thought that Fonecian family font naming wasn't properly working on Windows when I bought it, and I had to manually fix it. I've explained that to the font designer (maybe she's fixed it now) as well as the site owners (who weren't very friendly).
